CASE STUDY

Alderney Electricity Ltd

Alderney Electricity is exploring renewable energy opportunities for the island’s future. To keep the public informed on their progress, I joined them for a series of videos, giving you an inside look at their plans and developments.

About the Project

When James Lancaster from Alderney Electricity explained the importance of energy security on the island, I brought my camera down to the power station to see the operation firsthand. While Alderney still relies on importing diesel multiple times a year, I was surprised to learn that we actually have one of the most modern infrastructure grids in the world. This has all been designed in preparation for the adoption of renewable energy, with Alderney Electricity currently exploring wind, solar, and tidal generation.

Throughout this video series, I’ve been showing the Alderney community how the grid works, how fuel is imported, and what the future of energy on the island could look like. We also travelled to Scotland to meet potential partners and see how another small island community is successfully using wind power to fund its own development.

This series is ongoing, and my role is to capture these stories in my vlogs while reaching out to local news channels to share the journey with a wider audience.
